Original Works · Hand-Drawn Since 1974

Once it's drawn,
it exists once.

Robert Wright has spent over fifty years putting graphite, ink, and color to parchment and wood — quiet family portraits, bold abstract pieces, work made one mark at a time, by one hand. Nothing here is printed. Nothing here is repeated.

Why an Original

A print can be replaced. This can't.

A photograph captures a moment. A portrait interprets it — the angle Robert chose, the line he decided to leave heavier, the hour he spent getting your father's eyes right. That decision-making only happens once. Once a piece sells, there is no second one to buy. No reprint. No "available again next season."

That's not a sales line — it's just how the work is made. Robert draws every piece by hand, start to finish, with no studio assistants and no production line. What you see in the gallery is the only one that will ever exist.

In His Own Words

Fifty years of putting pencil to parchment

I started drawing before I could write my own name well. Over the decades that turned into a career — illustration work for major brands and private clients, commission after commission, other people's deadlines and other people's visions.

This collection is different. These are the pieces I made for no one but myself — portraits of my own family, studies I returned to because I couldn't leave them alone, abstract work where I finally got to decide what the line should do next.

"I'm 78 years old. I have thousands of these. Most of them have never been seen outside my own house — until now."

I'm not interested in mass production. I never have been. Every piece here was made by hand, on parchment or wood, start to finish, by me — and once it's gone, I won't make another one exactly like it. That's not a marketing decision. That's just what original means.

How the Work Is Released

Two ways to own a piece of this collection

Robert has thousands of pieces, but they won't all be released at once. Each is sold as either the true original, or a small, numbered, hand-approved print run.

Tier One

The Original

The actual piece Robert drew, signed by hand. Only ever one. Once it's purchased, the listing is removed — permanently, not "restocked."

Before You Buy

Common questions, answered plainly

Is every piece really one-of-a-kind?

Yes. Every original on this site is the actual piece Robert drew by hand — never reproduced, never reprinted. If it's listed as an Original, there is exactly one in existence. Once it sells, the listing comes down for good.

What materials does he use?

Graphite, ink, charcoal, and color pencil or wash, applied to parchment paper or finished wood panel. Each piece is sealed for longevity after completion.

Does it come with proof it's authentic?

Yes. Every original and every limited print ships with a signed certificate of authenticity, including the piece's title, medium, and completion details.

How is it shipped, and is it insured?

Originals ship free and fully insured, packed flat with protective layering and rigid board casing to prevent bending or damage in transit. You'll receive tracking as soon as it leaves the studio.

Can I request a custom or commissioned portrait?

Robert is currently focused on releasing his existing collection, but commission requests can be submitted through the inquiry form below — reach out and we'll let you know what's possible.

What if it arrives damaged?

Contact us immediately with photos of the damage. Every piece is insured in transit, and we will make it right.
